The latest milestone to be reached in the development of Havbredey – a proposed offshore wind farm located approximately 27km north west of Cape Wrath off the North coast of mainland Scotland – sees the project issue its Offshore Scoping Report to the Marine Directorate who will further consult with a wide range of statutory and non-statutory consultees.
The purpose of the Scoping Report is to engage with stakeholders as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process, inviting them to comment on the proposed EIA approach being adopted by the project and to ensure that a robust Environmental Impact Assessment Report is subsequently submitted in support of the eventual application for consent.
The Offshore Scoping Report sets out the environmental topics to be assessed in the EIA. This helps the project and its consultees to agree what baseline information is needed, together with the methods that will be used to identify and assess the impacts that could arise from the project.
A separate onshore Scoping Report will be prepared and submitted at a later date.
The Offshore Scoping Report marks the start of the formal EIA process and can be viewed at the Marine Directorate website: Scoping Report – Havbredey Limited – Havbredey Offshore Wind Farm – SCOP-0069 | marine.gov.scot
