Supply Chain Business Breakfast

Summary report published on local supply chain event

On September 9th last, the Spiorad na Mara team – supported by HIE, Scottish Renewables, the Supplier Development Programme and ORE Catapult – hosted a Supply Chain information event for local businesses, in Stornoway, and a report summarising the outputs from it has been published and circulated to those who attended.

The report contains a summary of the insights gathered during the event, including feedback shared by local businesses in the post-event survey and feedback provided by the support agencies. It also contains the key messages the project and agency partners imparted on the day and a summary of the next steps in terms of further local supply chain engagement.

“For us, the level of interest shown in the event was a strong indication of the appetite that exists among local businesses to be part of the supply chain for delivery of the Spiorad na Mara project, should it go ahead, and a demonstration of their determination to position themselves to compete for the opportunities that will arise,” said Martin Whyte, Project Director.

“We are just as eager to see local business avail of these opportunities and, together with the agencies that supported us on the day, we plan to work alongside them in the years ahead to help them to get ready.

“To everyone who took the time to speak with us on the day or provide feedback afterwards, or both, we are very grateful. It all helps us to form a clearer picture of the local supply chain, its capabilities, challenges and support needs,” he concluded.

The report, which has been circulated to all those who attended and those on the project’s wider Supply Chain database, can be accessed below.
