Installation of Meteorological Mast

Following receipt of planning permission to install a temporary Meteorological (Met) Mast on land north-west of Barvas, preparatory ground works are to be undertaken this week, which are expected to take around three to four days to complete.

Erection of the Met Mast requires a suitable weather window of two to three days, and it is hoped that this can be completed before the end of the year, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Further information on the Met Mast and our wind monitoring programme can be found here.

Details of the planning application can be found on the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar website: Go to the Planning Application.
