2nd June to 2nd July 2025
The second phase of public consultation on the proposed Spiorad na Mara offshore wind project took place between Monday 2nd June and Wednesday 2nd July.
2 Ògmhios gu 2 Iuchar 2025
Chaidh an dàrna ìre de cho-chomhairleachadh poblach air molaidhean pròiseact gaoithe Spiorad na Mara a chumail eadar Diluain 2 Ògmhios agus Diciadain 2 An t-Iuchar.
What are the public consultations about?
Public consultation is an essential part of the development process for Spiorad na Mara. The project has committed to holding two phases of public consultation prior to the submission of its consents applications, to seek input from the public on the project’s plans as they are progressing. The first phase took place in September/October 2024, and the second phase took place in June/July 2025.
These consultations are in addition to the programme of wider engagement which has been ongoing since the seabed area option was awarded to us by the Scottish Government in 2022 and which will continue throughout the development, construction and operations of the wind farm, if built.
We are also open to receiving feedback at any time and may be contacted using the contact details below.
When and where did the consultations take place?
We commit to being inclusive in our consultation activities and to maximising opportunities for participation by all.
To achieve this, we made information available online, held in-person exhibitions and made project personnel available for small-group or individual meetings through information clinics.
Our second phase started on Monday 2nd June 2025, with our first in-person event held at the Cabarfeidh Hotel, South Stornoway and the launch of an on-line consultation room which ran until Wednesday 2nd July 2025. Further in-person events were held around the island – dates and venues can be found below.
What was consulted on during these events?
The focus during this consultation was on sharing updates on progress since Phase 1 – including details of how previous feedback has been considered or will be considered later – and seeking feedback on the updated plans. This phase also included consultation on specific aspects of the project which had been further advanced since Phase 1.
