A final period of public consultation on the Onshore Transmission Works for the proposed Spiorad na Mara offshore wind project took place between Monday 24th November and Wednesday 24th December 2025.
The purpose of the consultation was to share details of, and seek feedback on, the final onshore proposals, including the updated grid substation location which was consulted on in September and October 2025.
The consultation included updated information, including photomontages and maps, relating to the proposed onshore grid substation location (near Arnish) and its associated infrastructure; and updated information on the proposed cycleway/multi-use path, which the project has committed to developing by re-purposing the temporary haul road that will be built alongside the Barvas Moor Road for construction purposes (see documents and links, below). A summary of the feedback received at the updated grid substation consultation and subsequent responses to this feedback was also included.
During the consultation, information was made available online, and at three in-person events held on:
- Monday 24th November: 4pm to 8pm: Caladh Inn, Stornoway.
- Tuesday 25th November: 12 to 3pm: Borve House Hotel.
- Tuesday 25th November: 5 to 8pm: Barvas & Brue Community Hall.
Dedicated information clinic appointments for individuals or small groups who wished to further discuss specific aspects of the project, were also made available.
